nice weather! regretting SORN!

anyone else regret SORNing their mk1 today? - SORNed the golf last month as was not getting much use and weather starting to get grim. with the nice weather today really regretted it! had to resort to giving a good old wash and tucking up for the winter - never mind…

its a tricky one, the one year i taxed the cabby all year round and i used it twice in the 6 months in would usually be sorn, but then i benefit from having a daily and a garage, i would use it all yar round but trying to keep it as nice as i can :-)

in the same situation - use as a weekend toy and for a run on nice day - didnt get much use last year must have put less than a 1000miles on it shame really as always puts a smile on my face every time i go out in it. cant justify an extra £110 for 6 mnths tax for a couple of weekend runs. dont think i would ever get rid of it though!!!

I have only done 1000 miles in the 12 months that I have had mine but hopefully I will always tax it for the year as some of the winter days are nicer than summer days, cool, crisp and sunny with my bald head under a hat and the heater on full

Just taxed mine last month for the year and my BMW in the same month as well  :|

think you are right about a sunny winter day - will see how the weather pans out - tax is only a click away and the insurance is paid for the year on classic policy which is cheap enough to leave running. make sure you keep the suncream handy with tat roof down though!!!!

I sometimes feel the same, although you have to remember that even though the sky is clear there will stil be salt on the roads and in the air to rust away our mk1s :(

Well said. I am just lucky living in Scotland and getting such tropical throughout the winter.

We had a lovely November last year there was no road salt to be seen

I SORNed mine for the first time ever this year and I don't think it's going to be off the road for long. It's only been two months and I'm itching to drive it already.

Couldn't agree more. What's the point? It's still insured so i might as well drive her! SORNing has never sat well with me. It's okay if you have an immaculate show car that you hardly drive anyway but not for me. Mine's just an average car that loves to be driven. besides all I'm saving is a little bit of road tax which amounts to no more than a couple of visits to Nando's.

As soon as I'm fit enough to drive again I'll be heading off to the Post Office and getting some tax for her.
