model confusion
Just bought my first golf. according to the v5 it is a: 1984, 1272cc, golf "c".
However, looking on this site it seems that all "c" models have a 1093cc engine. The only 1272cc golfs seem to be the "driver" which i understand was only produced in 1983. Not quite sure what my car is then? any help would be appreciated.
Cheers, Greg

Doesn't really matter i guess, nice to know what your car is though isnt it.

Probably a Golf C which has had an engine conversion from 1100cc to 1300cc.

if this is the case should insurance be the same as it would be on a 1.3 driver ?

You'd have to ask your insurance company, but yes, any decent insurer should do that, rather than 'loading' the policy because its modified or had an engine conversion.

The Mk1 Golf CL has a 1.3 engine aswell by the way. Insurance-wise it's not as if your car IS a Golf Driver, if you go down that insurance route, because it presumably won't have the 'desirable' Driver trim such as arch spats, alloys, double headlamps, stripes etc etc. So in that respect they can't charge you the same as if your car was a Driver. It would probably be cheaper to be insured as if you were driving a Golf CL 1.3 - unless it's cheaper to insure as a modified Golf C.
Good luck with it.
P.S - not all Golf C's are 1.1 petrol either, the Golf C Diesels are 1.6 of course! Irrelevant I know
