mk1 cab gls
hello people, i have been a ford man since i have started driving, but i have always wanted a golf cab. anyways i need your help, my friend from work says he has a golf cab in black on a 1981 gls, he says it has a few things wrong with it these are
wipers go really slow
wont run properly seems to wanna cut out he thinks its summit to do with the pump he has also noticed a slight drip off fuel coming from the rear somewere (not sure myself yet)
and also just needs a good clean
hes said he has cleaned the carb (what size engine will this b)
but other than that he wants 800 for it, know any off these problems major and how can i fix them also is the price k..

1981 is old for a cabby. Its before they properly addressed corrosion issues - so these may catch you out far worse than a running issue or fuel leak, which you've already mentioned. How much tax & test does it have? Does it need paintwork (black is probably the worst colour to show up issues, but the nicest if it looks good)? Panels? Is the hood newish and/or leak free, or issues too?
Cutting out could be something as simple as needs tuning, or as complex as fuel tank rusted out/contamination/dirt/etc (a common Mk1 Golf issue).
The fuel leak again, could be a simple issue or a complex one.
So, adjust the price accordingly, depending on the details…..
?800 could be too high or too low, depends on the factors as above.

If there is no rot then it's a fair price, however if it's even slightly rotten walk away, there are plenty of cabbys to pick from
