I LOVE MY GOLF

It's been a tricky relationship so far..

frustrating at times because he was my only car for the summer. Which was great until I had to do long haul drives. He let me down a couple of times when the ignition system and distributor cap fried all at once on the way to cornwall outside my mums house (first time she'd seen it.. suitably unimpressed), and then when the lights turned off in the rain, then the cooler fan jammed… but overall I just simply…

LOVE IT!

I managed to buy a shitty volvo 440 for the winter (300 quid) which is just boring, the heated seats don't work, the central locking doesn't work, the fan system makes all the noise in the world but barely sighs on the windscreen, the battery connection is faulty, the rear demister doesn't work (you get the point….)

so the golf has been caged away in a garage for a month in the freezing cold, and after half an hour of charging, tinkering, spraying GT85 all over the place, it launched into life first turn of the motor (who cares if it was the 10th attempt, it was just undercharged!)

nothing compares to hauling this beauty around town.. the heavy steering, atrocious brakes, every squeak and rattle. Reminded me why I bought it. just too much fun. and EVERYTHING works… only got 1 problem which i'll put in another forum

Anyway. that's made my christmas, it's locked away again now until the next 'big freeze' (starts tonight apparently?) is over! can't wait to start it again!! Happy days!

Yeah, I agree.
The snows not stopped me n the Mk 1 getting out and about, although a bit scary at times when the snow was above the cills!
The clipper front bumper makes quite a good snow plough.

It's all worth while, when the old guy in his Micra next to you at the traffic lights beeps his horn and sticks his thumb up and mouths 'nice car'!

to think i was going to sell it before the winter

don't know if i'd be too happy without the garage though, still needs some TLC.

That i will probably have to spend thousands on next year :D
