Hows yours handle in the snow

I live in sheffield so there are alot of hills to cope with! The main road was covered with cars failed attempts at getting up the hill. Only 3 cars made it to the top. My mk1 golf cabby, My mates 66 beetle and and cinquento  8OAnd the odd 4x4 obviously

Without winter tyres, mine is crapola. With winter tyres, it's a little bit better, but not as good as cars with thin tyres or Panda 4x4s or any other 4x4 with or without winter tyres for that matter. But it's better than a Nissan 350z at least.

My Saab 93 (NB: A Swedish car) is absolutely hopeless in the snow. Our Quattro is awesome and great fun but as the Mrs uses that I think I'll be reluctantly using my Mk1 Jetta tomorrow morning when I return to work. Will let you know how he performs !

Try driving an RX8 in snow, much fun to be had there too!

Tried to get Mrs Earlys new Golf out so she could go to work and it wouldn't even set off on level ground, was packed snow/ice though. Next doors Freelander went in and out of estate twice with no problems.

Modern heavy cars with fat tyres with a grip pattern that is simply 3 or 4 lines  around the tyre are rubbish in snow.

When I used a MK1 Jetta and then a 1300 Driver as daily cars they coped OK in snow. The best I had was my old Caddy with skinny commercial type tyres. Once got over the pennines from Littlebrough to Halifax up over Blackstone Edge in about 6 inch of snow no problem, Diesel chuggin away like a gud 'un :D
