hood questions about cabby
hi all,
im going to order a new hood for my cabriolet mk1 but not sure what colour to get.
It is sapphire metallic (grey) and currently has a grey hood with 2 rips in and a black hood cover so was thinking of ordering a black hood? what do you think?
also do you know of any good fitters around Surrey/London area? Dont fancy doing it myself!
Thanks

I'd order black. I have a navy hood on my grey cabby, which looks nice, but I'd still prefer black…
I only know a good fitter in Cambridge. There was a thread on here a while back covering lots of hood fitters. It might be worth doing a quick search.

I think the grey hood goes nicely with the sapphire blue. Heres my old '88 cabby with its new grey hood on….

Oh no! Don't do beige! That'll just wash out the grey and get dirty really easily too!
I'm sorry I don't have a photo of mine with the navy roof, but it does look quite nice when the roof is up. The car isn't here at the moment (long story, but I'm now driving a Saxo for a week euch). I'll post a pic with the roof up when I get it back late next week if you don't plan on ordering one in that time.

I've got a grey cabby with a black hood and it looks fine. I was tempted to go for a burgandy hood when I changed mine but eventually decided to stick with black. problem is that you don't know what these colours are going to look like until you actually see them on the car - you can photoshop them, but that only gives you a rough idea. You can't go wrong with black though. Personally that's what I'd go for.

I think that grey one looks amazing and a bit different, loads have black hoods - or the navy would be nice.

Hi, i had a black mohair and black headlining fitted by Sort-Tops, they were quite helpful, came out to me at work in reading and fitted on site, I'm no expert, but they did a top class job..
their website is www.sort-tops.co.uk and they are based in croydon but only charged me a ?25 call out fee and that was to reading…

I'm well impressed with the job they've done

you will get a better response if you start your own thread and ask the questions!
this thread relates to the question -what colour hood for my cabrio.
