Hood Bag

Just a thought,while driving home this evening from work (21:00) a very barmy evening with the hood down just wondered how many  people with Golf Cabs fit the hood bag ,personnally i can't be bothered except if its a long journey

 i bought a blue one for mine….dont like the look of it when its on
so i for one 'never' put it on :wink:

I allway's put the bag on, keeps the dirt out the headliner, if you tried cleaning one, you will know what I mean. It also stops the air pressure as you go along pushing against the folds in the roof when down. I have seen Cabby's where the top retaining straps are snapped and you end up with the folds undoing as you go along, alway's end up with a floppy bit hanging down.. Putting the bag on makes that look neater for sure.

Anything over about 10 miles and the cover goes on. OR, if I know that at the other end of the journey, I can safely park somewhere and leave the hood down. For shorter journeys my laziness takes over and the cover stays in the boot.  

i always put mine on. but i leave the velcro straps connected all the time so i just have to pull it over and do up the poppers when the roof is down, and when the roof is up it sits on the parcel shelf.

Dunno about you boys but my hood is automatic so it had no push down lock……………I never used to put the tonneau cover on the clipper but on the rivage its a must or it put massive strain on the rams that hold it up and down as the hood want to lift at anything over 50mph and when you are going full tilt at over 110mph the whole thing goes half was up and forces hudraulic fluid out of the rams so i wouldn't advise not driving without if it an automatic.

For me its an 'always'. I've just cleaned the interior headlining after 6 years on the car and it was filthy just with normal atmosphere dirt.

If I drove without it I don't want to think what it would be like!!!!!  :?

I also need to clean the inside of hood bag because thats dirty and will transfer the dirt onto the clean lining!!!!

I never once used it with my Rivage, but I use it on my Quartet sometimes (when I'm not being lazy) as the interior headlining is white and it's also missing some glue so it bubbles out at anything above 2nd gear. Must glue it down…

if you've any Loctite glue left over from the hood fastenings, you could use that!!!!!

Just purchased a brand new one off eBay for when my new black mohair arrives  

since i got my tonneau cover i always use it  

think it makes the car look better

stops lining getting dirty

i keep velcro straps attached also so then just gota do up popers and locate hook things at the back.

When i leave it parked up with cover on, i do worry that some one might nick the tonneau cover though as cost me ?80 on ebay …

Always cover mine

always always use mine on all the cars, the ones with electric hoods have the connections that stop you putting the hood up by accident.  


if i get round to it will fit the press studs to the dash so the proper tonneau cover can be used so car can be left with hood down

What's that then? Like an old style Le Mans racing car cover??? Any pictures of them please???

yes its like the covers fitted to the vintage cars has a zip down the middle so you can drive without taking whole thing off. i had never seen one before but i think it mentions it in the handbook. spotted it on ebay while back. a picture at the moment would be usless it just loks like a sheet of hood material. i will post a pic next time i fit it.
