Might sound like a stupid question mate but why are you looking to modify your car to look like something you can't define? Just sounds odd.

Best bet is to have a look at other cars and then decide what mods you like and apply them to your car. Thing is you can't really define 'euro' as it covers many subtle elements. For example I'd always say w i d e 13inch wheels were more 'euro' than 15s but there ya go! It has to be smooth though and low!

i was gonna say, if its your own car then wouldnt it be best to modify to make it look the way you like, rather than conforming to a certain style.

The Mk1 Golf already looks like a European car - because its a European car.

I just don't get the modified car thing.. A nice set of wheels, nice stereo and maybe a stainless exhaust so that you never need buy another one all kind of make sense.. But why not spend your money on restoring your car to as perfect and new looking as possible.. Thats the best way to turn heads and protect your investment.. You see, you will spend an absolute fortune turning it into something that you will grow out of and then spend another fortune putting it back to how it was, or loose a fortune selling it at a loss..

If you are gonna do anything drastic, go to a few vw shows and see what works well and what doesn't.. There was a picture on here not so long ago of a guy who quite obviously just couldn't stop modifying his car.. If someone can find that pic and post it on this thread to prove a point, that would show how people can keep adding more and more, changing and modding more and more in the deluded hope that they will produce the ultimate machine that men envy and women adore… Please someone find that orange mk1 with the silly chrome bumpers..

No, the thing is to do the car as YOU want it, dosnt matter if it dosnt fit into a slot, then you can enjoy your car because its what you want, even if others dont like it, as you are critisizing the orange golf. I think the problem is when (as the originator of this post) you try to create something that may not be what you actually want so how can you be interested in it. Moral... do your own thing and enjoy it, stuff anyone else. How many owners are fitting the 20v t engine because its the cool thing to do not because its their long term dream.

I thought this forum was here to help people.
The dude obviously asked a question for help in this subject as he likes this look
I say take the advice you have been given by the more positive members and do what you want with it.
There is tens of thousands of different cars on the road for a reason (because not everyone likes the same thing)
Otherwise I would be boring, but that being said I would love to see millions of mk1's every day

I'm sorry but I didn't understand the opening premise for this thread and I don't understand this either.

I suggest you do whatever it is you want with your car and then stick some pictures up mate, I for one am fascinated so go for it!

Also to be fair, I haven't read any negative comments. I've seen a difference of opinion and that's what a forum is all about, so don't worry if we don't all agree or like your plans, that's just life!

Although I 100% agree with this, from my personal pov with my Mark 1, that's cause you and I see our cars as a practical classic runaround, but also as future investments.

However I can equally understand why you'd want to mod a car to fit a look or a scene you like or follow, and sell the car on in the future, maybe you'll take a hit finanically, but maybe the next owner loves the euro look and will pay handsomely for the car having had the work done already.

Part of the joy of owning classics is tinkering about with them, whether that's tinkering to lower and pimp it up or restoring them to their original glory - diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks innit, else we'd all be driving Ford Focus or summat…
