Helios Blue Campaign - what to do!!

Hi all - not been on for a while, hope everyone's fit and well

Anyway, question for you - well a long story first and then a question - what to do with my blue gti……… Bought it this time last year, travelled from Gloucester to Inverness (yes Inverness!) to collect it and tow it home, and passed it over to my good friend the mechanic to do his best. Was there for about 6 months, and I spent about 6 weeks working on it with him whilst I was out of work getting it mechanically sound and in good nick inside.

So the question is, after spending about £3k on it so far, do I go the whole hog and get the bodywork spic and span and respray done? Or do I put it into storage until I can afford it? Or do pass it on to the loving home that can give it the time and attention it needs now that I'm back working????

Ideas please!!

If you are going to do a respray, make sure you have the funds to do a really good job. You will kick yourself if you look at it and wish you had spent that extra bit more.

KEEP IT! KEEP IT! If its just not the right time, put it in storage. But dont leave it to get tin-worm!

Hi all - with regret I think I'm going to have to sell my campaign as I just don't have the time or funds to get the respray done - I know I have to list it with a price so any ideas on value?

Emm.. I had it and ran it for a while but was never happy as the previous owner who got it restored had done a rubbish job of the filler surround and i could see the repair through the paint but other than that it was a decent enough car, It had all the right bits on it and i sold it for 1200 i think in early 2004 or late 2003 chap was passing house and asked if it was for sale 8) Dont think it had much history with it when i got it, I think the guy i sold it to put a new front panel on it when its mot ran out and got it painted at front but never used it on the road again then he sold couple of years ago.

Not without pics, and an idea of how much body work is actually needed.  going to need a lot more info to help with a price on this one. There is a guide on the site, but if your car is fairly ropey, then £500 could be your money. One with a good paint job, running well, no rust, running perfectly, full mot and looking really good could be more like £5000…

If you have spent that much already and it still needs body work and paint, keep it…
You probably won't break the £1000 mark if you sell it needing body work.
