Heater mods?
I seem to remember reading a mod a long time ago on how to change the side fresh air vents to blow warm air?
But can I find it????
I've searched and found an old thread by a chap called "oldfart" who put an extra vent where the ashtray goes, but I want to be able to blow warm air and cold air out of the side vents.
Anyone help?

I've wanted to do this for ages, but short of splicing a flap in the pipe work hooked together with some cable and a gear lever from a bicycle I'm not sure how to go about it…
I'll keep an eye on this

I seem to remember, back in the 80's, I was working at a poxhaull garage and was told that it's not legal to have warm air coming out of certain vents! (construction & use regulations)
I very much doubt if any one will remember or know about this, it's not part of the MOT , & the local plod arn't going to stop & test, but it's down to if warm air is blown on the face of the driver, it has a 'soporific' effect. (sends them to sleep).
I think it had to do more with centre vents. Still all you would have to do is fit the vent you want warm to the heater ducting, best to fit a cable on it though, so you can put it back to fresh air when you want.

So I've copied this info from "Oldfart's" original "Warm hands" thread:
QUOTE:
Photo 1 shows the new bit of trunking for the new centre vent
Photo 2 shows the dash with the centre vent fitted instead of an ashtray
Photo 3 shows where to cut the holes on your heater box ( this one is out of the car, but you don't have to remove it!)
Photo 4 shows the right hand trunking feeding warm air to the right hand dash vent
Enjoy!
Now my thoughts are, in photo 3 "Oldfart" shows where to cut a new hole for warm/cold air controlled by the temp slider. If I just connect the side vent pipes to these new holes, then I could have warm air whenever I wanted, and for cold air just slide the temp to the cold setting? I'd have to blank off the fresh air holes as well.
What do you recon?

I don't really know why you would need it tbh. My old mk1 used to get really toasty on the warm setting, and I hate heat blowing in my face anyways.
What im more interested in is mods to the heater motor to make it turn faster for a given speed setting, ive always thought of doing this.
