Haynes Manual for Mk1 Rivage

Hello everyone!!

Was wondering if anyone could advise as to where, if one exists, that I could get a haynes manual for my mk1 rivage, I know very little about mechanics but was hoping to spend sometime at the weekends tinkering with my new purchase…..

also any ideas on where I could get a decentish tool kit or what tools I might need??

i would have thought any late mk1 haynes manual would be ok.Go in halfrauds and have a look, they may be able to order you one if not look on flea bay.

As for tools dont spend a fortune, i used to be an engineer spent loads, now only use them at home tinkering,have a look in local free ads paper the big yellow one comes out on wednesdays, get some basic spanners 8mm-20mm open end and a selection of ring spanners or combi ones open one end and ring the other, socket set imperial and metric and pliers long nosed and  stubby nosed ones and wire cutters (just for the hell of it).If only working on your car you wont break a lot of spanners etc as long as they are a sturdy set you will be ok.
Remember if it aint broke dont fix it. :wink:

Indeed I don't intend to touch anything that doesn't need fixing, i'm more likely to break things anyway!!

Just spoke to 'ew' and he is sorting me out with a manual for a pint - good exchange me thinks!!  What a legend!

Like said above get a decent quality basic tool set and add to it as and when you need anthing more specialized.  Agree with Foxy about Halfords tools, their pro range is good quality and the say if you break any of them the will replace.  I've broken a few and they do!  I find the rachet spanners a useful set to have.

Ratchet spanners i have always wanted a set of them, thinks me may go and buy some cause they are handy to have, especially in smaller places.

Regards tools, try Argos mate   Bought tool box (4 drawer, lockable lid / drawers)full off sockets, spanners, pliers, ratchets etc for about ?60 last year, they then knocked ?20 off in Sale B*&$%@#s!!!!  8O They have decent selection.Would invest in decent 1/4" ratchet with 1/2" adaptor tho'. The sockets n that will all do for what we need but ratchet a bit light weight. If I need special socket (ie 30mm for front axle nut!! Then go Halfords or annoy the bloke @ second han tool shop or GSF).

Oh, get a long 1/2" bar for getting to stuff, ie drive axle bolts if usng axle stands!!

The best manual for any cabrio is the Bentley one for the Cabriolet and scirocco. Its an american manual but that doesn't matter much as the cabrios were still made in Osnabruck, Germany so American models hardly differ from Euro versions.
