Also the GX has chrome side strips and chrome detail where the Gti had black.
The GX doesnt have the MFA unit that the GTi has.
Why do you want a mk1 5 door GTi?

the gx goes quite well actually, you may be surprised.

Another point to note is that the base of the rear seats of a 5-door Mk1 are DIFFERENT than the base of the 3-door (5-door base has rounded corners to aid entry through the back doors). You can fit 3-door GTI seats into a 5-door Mk1, but the two securing arms won't attach to the floor. It'll only be secured by the tongue over the tunnel (not sure if the MOT guy will pass it if he notices).
If you really want to fit GTI seats into a 5-door, you could get an upholsterer to re-sew the GTI cover to fit over the 5-door foam and metal frame.

Still, the front seats are the same shape as the tin-top GTI ones, they just look different…
