Dealer Back Window Sticker

I want to replicate the original dealer sticker which was fitted to the back window. I don't have the original one to copy although I do have the dealer of my car's original logo. So what I'm thinking is that if I can see some samples of other VW dealers logos of the same period then I can sort of come up with a replica showing the different colours, sizes etc.
Even better would be if anyone out there that has a car which was bought from the same dealer as mine.- Whites of Wimbledon.
If you do still have an original dealer sticker I would appreciate it if you could take a pic of it and post it up.

hi graham - perhaps if you got in touch with whites (if they are still in business) they could provide you with some samples of their old logos etc, and may, (although unlikely) still have a sticker from then.

If whites are still going then ideally you need to speak to someone from the parts dept face to face. an employee whos been there a while will know theres a corner of the stock room with thats got all kinds of junk in it and thats where it'll be. gotta build up the raport with them to persuade them to look!!   

Yep get in touch with Whites as all the dealer stickers were different (after all they are only franchises). Some old timer there might remember them - I think you would do well visit them if they are still a VW dealer.

It might be worth trying to reproduce more than one, and from various vw garages, my local garage was Kensworth Nr dunstable.

according to the vw website, whites vw centre now exists at the above address as morden volkswagen. if whites moved and then changed their name its likely they will have a box of old whites branded stuff etc….

I have contacted Mordons and indeed Whites were taken over by them around 8 years ago so technically they do still exsist.  The person I spoke to was very helpful and understood my quest but did not think that any of the old Whites information still exsisted as they have moved premises in that time.  

Its bit of a treck for me just to go and visit them on the off chance there maybe something left so really I am back to square one.
On the upside I have found if I spray the area on the window with window cleaner you can see the outline of the sticker so I can get external dimensions from that. It also isn't rectangular which gives me an idea of the layout of the sticker.

My request still stands though on any photos or even better an original Whites sticker.

Hi Dan,

You replicated the rocker cover sticker for me back last summer.

I got a rear window decal sorted. The other bit I was trying to find out about was the dealer log on the number plate.

I did some work into this and got a couple of number plate digits to see how thick they were. The digit material used to make number plates is ultra thin. You would need the same material to replicate the dealer nameplate otherwise I think you would find that you would have a small airbubble all the way round the logo as the reflective piece and the clear piece are stuck together.

Also for complete authenticity you would need pre 2000 numberplate digits ie Old Charles Wright Font which I am finding are impossible to get. Post 2000 are narrower to accomodate the extra digit in new style number plates and they don't look right. Check out Gene Hunt's Quattro. They used post 2000 font on that and it just didn't look right!

It would be good to sort this out if you can.
