Cup holder mod

I had an idea about a cup holder a few months ago and have finally got around to mocking one up. 





I've got to do some final tweaks, but what do you fussy lot think?

Looks like it's from a mk4 golf era, I have similar on my 98 A6 however it has optics built in to light up the logo red. It also comes out of the dash at an upward angle, and iirc the golf mk1 ashtray comes out at a downard angle? Correct me if I'm wrong.

But it looks good, great idea, and great workmanship on making it look OE. The textured surround part to mate it to the ash tray I'm guessing that came from the doner dash/cup holder surround?

Do you have some pics of it in situe? with a cup to test clearance to the dash?

OMG cup holder overload!

This is a prototype at the moment, I have another ashtray surround to make final one out of. When its finished I'll fit it and stick a MK1OC travel mug in to see if it works, take some pics and post em up!
