Car brokedown....

Right then, Ive been looking for a nice mk1 for quite sometime now. One day while looking through the classifieds I found 'the one' She was looking at me screaming "take me home Dave and I'll love you forever" a little 1.3 driver  :D … so I drove the 2 1/2 hours to pick her up. She was everything I wanted, beautiful, sexy and comfortable.  :lol:
Then on the way home she brokedown  :banghead: :banghead:

Think it was a loose distributer? Was playing with all wires under the bonnet and eventually she started again. Anyone else's car broken down on their first drive?

On both Drivers I've had;

1st one triggered the oil pressure light on way home, oil pressure was low, replaced engine with a recon and ran for another 5 years
2nd one made it about 10 miles until about 50 yards from home and conked out with the dreaded crud in tank via rotten filler neck. Removed tank, cleaned and brother ran car for 10 years.

My GTi I bought as a restoration project chucked it fan belt off on way home, replaced that then about 2 miles from home engine seized due to previous owner making a balls up of replacing the crank shells.

Whatever you do don't get the wife/girl friend/mistress to give you a tow….

Im glad im not the only one then  :roll:
She was coughing and spluttering a lot first but made it to a layby. As soon as i pulled in she cut out and wouldn't start. Luckily she'd made it to within 20mins of home so i didnt have far to go on after she started again. She going in to my mates garage today to have a full going over just to see what else needs doing (hopefully nothing major). I'll have my fingers crossed  :wink:
