Bye bye Gti
After a lot of thought, I?ve had to sell my cabbie. Its been SORNed for the past 5 months as I just couldn?t afford to keep it taxed, MOTed and insured plus all the little maintenance issues. Fortunately, one of the guys who works for me bought it with the promise of tidying her up a bit. So far in the past 2 weeks, its been stripped and had a full respray (no rot anywhere), clipper kit filled and resprayed, the Castellettes sent off for polishing, the underside sealed and the MFA and windscreen wipers have been fixed and are working again. Next up is to drop it by 40mm and swap the standard 1.8GTI engine for a 1.8T. The guy who is doing it has recently stuck a R32 engine in his tintop so it should be a good job. I?ll get some before and after pictures put up when its finished.
In the meantime, I?ll drop into the forum every now and then (it beats working).

Thanks Gents.
It got to the stage where I was just got fed up with it sitting in the drive. I sold it dead cheap to the guy and gave him all my spares - would have made a few hundred quid more if I sold the parts seperately. All I've got left now is a few chrome and black side trims and a Haynes Manual which I put in the for sale thread soon.
This site has been a great help and helped me carry out a few repairs a garage would have charged hundreds for.
Thanks everyone

Each time I've 'moved on' from Mk1 GTI's, I've always given my spares away to the lucky buyer….
….That's the bit you regret most when you finally buy another one and decide you like to drive something unusual!
…you'll be back…
