Brainy mk1 handyman needed in Somerset

I am the proud owner of the slowest mk1 1.8 gti in existence. I know it has lots of bodged pipes and melted plugs etc but I'm not too hot mechanically and have a habit of replacing a hundred things I dont need to before finding the solution to car troubles.

I could do with someone who has been into dubs for a long time and knows the old 18. 8v inside out to have a good look through with me and highlight what I need to repair or replace to get her running sweet again. I know a guy who probably knows more about watercooleds than VW themsleves but he is away for a few months and I dont think I can wait that long.

Before anyone suggests TSR as they are based in my town let me assure you that I wont be spending big wodges of cash there as half of their ex technicians are scattered across workshops in town for half the price.
I am skint and would rather do the work myself where I can but will happily chuck someone with knowledge some beer tokens to get me going.

Lol I know Paul well I didnt really have him pegged as a VW guy tbh, more mk1 and 2 escorts. I will have a chat to him and see what he has to say.
