Bit of advice needed please chaps.......

I've picked up a cab GTI with a 1.9TSR engine which I'm going to fit into my tin top  :D

The gear box is different to mine as the cab one has just the two pin reverse switch and my tin top had the large black type - I'd like to use the 100mm driveshafts from the cab into my tintop as I do intend to drive the tintop the way it is meant to be - Hard  :D

This is where I need some advice -

What do the other two wires do on the large reverse switch? Do they goto the yellow econometer LED?

Is it possible to change the flanges on the gearbox from the cabs box onto my tintop box?

Hope this makes sense  :dontknow:

flanges are changeable,  i changed mine so when i put a mk2 1.6 box in my cab.

i got to change box again though soon as i've got a bit of 2nd gear crunch, so was going to do one of those how-to guide things so people can change their flanges and not whole shafts etc.

flanges

Just change the flanges over from cab box to your original, but be careful not to ruin the oil seal caps in the centre of the flanges,or maybe u can just get some new ones from VW,easy job to do if u have the tool to do it,i made one quite easy,i could let u borrow it if u promise to send it back to me!
