BBS RS v RM
i'm looking to put coilovers on my Mk1 Golf convertable with some BBS (or replica) alloys. Can anyone suggest some decent coilovers and more importantly can anyone explain the difference between BBS rs & rm rims? Also what size alloys would you suggest.
Thanks a million guys

The RS has nuts and bolts as opposed to captive bolts in the RM's.
The offsets are different and use different width rims to achieve a similar look. I'm sure RM's only came in one size, whereas the RS was available in many sizes and offsets. The RS038's were a greater et than the RS001's, which would make a wider wheel with more stretch despite the same size outer rim.
The centre caps on the RS are metal, and part of the design of the centre. They also screw into the centre. The RM centres are not part of the design, they clip in, and are made from plastic.
Although there are now many aftermarket upgrades available for RS and RM's, some of which will enhance the RM's the RS status, the RS will always be the better wheel, simply by design.
Hope that sheds some light.

I just need to find the ideal setup for my '87' Gti Cabrio. I want it to remain stock apart from coilovers & bbs RS's or RM's.
I think 15" rims would be best but not too sure if i want them too wide!?
I need to find a car that looks just right & copy wheel/tyre set up i guess?
What about Lenso copies of the BBS. Any comments on quality etc?
Thanks

The Hex nut on RM centres is plastic but the dimpled trim ring around that is metal. They are part of the wheels design, otherwise they would never have been designed!?
To the OP, I've got a nice set of RM's in the for sale section at the moment if they are of interest let me know. Just to point out they cost a few £ to refurbish to a good standard so don't rush to buy cheap ones in need of refurbishment before you've looked into costs!

with regards to the Lenso BSX please see my build thread below, im running 15 inch 7.5j wide lenso BSX's from memory all round, and i think they look good, still yet to decide if i want to play about with spacers and bring the back wheels out a little. I have had no problems with quality but i ensure all brake dust is cleaned of fairly regualry and i dont use it through winter with sale on roads etc, i have seen some lenso's that have corroded, but then im not sure if they have been looked after if that makes sense.
its all on budget bud, cos i got my lenso's brand new on toyo rubber for £640 all in i think. But if you can hold out for the BBS i would

They are not part of the spoke design was what I meant.
