Digifant is brilliant. Massively economical, though preferable without the catalyst. I'd pay money and swap my Carbed Clipper for a GTI cabriolet in similar condition and I'd pay double the difference for a proper digifant setup (not modded).

Karmann (if you're going to be a pedant, be accurate) built the cars. It might be up there with "Robin Reliants", but calling it a Karmann cabriolet is no less daft than distinguishing Hebmüller and Karmann Type 1s.
Strictly speaking, I think the correct term is to call them a big bumper Mk 1, but that terminology certainly hasn't stuck. If you say it has a "Clipper" kit, people know what you mean; even if Clippers existed before the facelift, and the big bumpers are fitted to all Golfs after '88 or whenever it kicked off.

but my point is what ever your picking at is the fact you don't get a clipper gti they don't exist its one or the other and sorry i miss spelt karmann
and it bugs the hell out of me reading on ebay or a like
karmann gti clipper

Clippers didn't all have big bumpers, but prob 95+% did. Later GTis were all fitted with the 'Clipper Kit' big bumpers. It is perfectly reasonable to expect non-VW anoraks to get confused and call them GTI Clippers or Clippers with GTI engines or GTI with Clipper kit etc.

It's an April 93 reg Golf Clipper Cabrio (as stated on the log book) fitted with the 1.8 inj engine with a cat fitted.
It's a 6 owner car with 81000 miles,all mot's and a stamped service book.
The cars drives so much better than my last one, very tight linkage and only half the scuttle shake.
After looking at 10 cars including some very over priced Sportline's I've finally found a nice original car.
All original paint apart from top of ns door and 1/4 being painted. With a bit of haggling I paid £1950 for it.
Will post some pics up tonight.

The later injection clippers are fairly rare as they didnt sell to well and late on run off models where made with higher spec leather sportline metallic paint all that jazz
VW call the 'clipper kit'…… bumper with intergrated spoilers with arch extension all colour coded.
You can see why it got nick named clipper kit lol
