Question About insurance - Help needed!
Ok, Im currently trying to sort out my Insurance of my 1.5 GX I bourght yesterdsay but have a quick question…
Im currently Insured on 'my every day car' (a 56 plate Mini) which I pay for monthly and insurance is included so it isn't my policy as such (I dont build up no claims either)
So Im putting my Mk1 on a totally new policy but with no 'no claims bonus' etc…so as if I was a new driver a suppose although I have had my lisence for nearly 4 years…
I did make a claim on the insurance I have through my Contact scheme on my Mini back in 05, will I have to declare this on my new policy for my Golf?
Hope that is not too confusing! :?
Help would be Greatly Appreiated.

Who was the policyholder of the insurance you claimed on?

Leaving the registered keeper aspect to one side, who "owned" the Mini that the claim was made on? Was it the contract company?

Hmmm, not sure (you'd have to check properly yourself) but I think you're okay. Basically, if you're not the policyholder, and it wasn't an accident, but it was a claim (eg damage while parked, broken into) then the owner of the car (the contract company) would have been the ones benefitting from it, since they held the policy and it was their car to fix and own. They simply 'hired' it to you for a monthly fee. Make sense?

Yes, and in fact they generally advise to declare anything, if you're not sure it needs declaring. Sometimes they assume you did make a claim until you can prove you didn't, though….

Ok thanks Paul.
The only reason I asked on here is because Im trying to sort my new policy online as we speak but obviously the fact I didn't know whether I had to declare that claim or not will make I difference to the cost… Im sure it will be easier if I speak to somebody over the phone about it.

Just incase your intrested Paul… I got my Insurance sorted today and I did have to declare that claim from my other policy.
Went through HIC, managed to get fully comp for ?484 which is a hell of alot cheaper than previous quotes.
