My Insurance dilemma.......

Having a bit of a nighmare at the moment and not sure what to do, any advice grateful, so here goes -

I am currently insured with Footman James with the following terms-
Agreed Value
Modifications Declared
Business Use
6000 limited mileage
My NCD discount not being used on another car and will run out next April.
This cost £450ish

I am geting very close to my mileage limit with 2 months to go.

Footman James can't offer me an unlimited milage policy, and even if I renew with them they can now only offer 3000limited mileage which is not enough for my, especialy as I will be doing 1500 in 4 days when I go to Germany.

I have the option of cancelling my current policy and going with another company, tried Sureterm, they can't do modifications.

I can go to just a standard car policy with say the Post Office, with my mods declared, busines use, 10,000miles for £260 but not agreed value which I'm worried about not having.

Anybody else have business use on there policy with mods and agreed value?

Help!!

Thanks

Hey Anna

Do you actually use it for business then, or just travelling to your place of work? As i think you are o.k on social domestic and commuting for your place of work, just not if you use it to go out and visit for business etc

Have you tried Peter Best ?

With regards to your NCB i would try and keep that whatever way you can and not let it go inactive past 2 years . Have you put the question to any stanadrd insurance companies regarding the agreed value and anything simmilar they can offer?

As much as the agreed value is a big piece of mind, i do wonder when it came to the crunch would they pay out what i have agreed with them etc? Also unless you car was damaged Cat A or B in theory you should be able to buy it back for not alot of money then use payout to fix it and prob have some spare money

Give adrian flux a try hun, dont think they are the cheapest buy may cover everything you need here ?

Keep us updated

Thanks Rich,

Yeah, I use the car to do site visits and go to meetings etc and have to show proof to my employer that I have got business cover so that I can claim mileage. I do about 1000 business miles a year.

I used to be with Adrian Flux, so will give them a try. That was still about £400 with not agreed value.

The big problem seems to be business use with a modified car of this age.

Tried Peter Best last year, they won't do mods and business use.

I've got 15 years no claims and I'm 34, you'd have though that would count for something

Will keep trying!

Well, After much ringing around, I've gone back to my old friends, Adrain Flux.

£353 Fully comp, 10,000miles, business use, all mods declared, legal cover, European cover.

It's not agreed value, but I was with Adrain Flux when some numpty ran in the back of it last time and broke the bumper and exhaust, £1500 worth of damage.

So all is good. Thanks for advice guys.
