Mk1 Golf insurance worry?
Hi guys, I'm nearly 17 and looking at buying a Mk1 Golf for my first car, I love them so much, but of course the worry is insurance? At such a young age you all know insurance isn't cheap.. How much do you think it would cost per year to insure a 1.1 or 1.4? Appreciate it if anyone has anyone information as I'm dead set on getting one!
Cheers,
Harry

Hi mate,welcome to the club
Try putting your details into confused.com,money supermarket etc
You will pay a lot though I should imagine, but on the plus side it's better to pay more for insurance on a mk1 than on a corsa or saxo etc
Hope you find a decent quote mate
I'm with performance direct
Cheers

Try some classic car insurance company's too - some do it for 17 years olds - some like to have a guardian on there with you tho, and you won't build no claims up - but then again they re over rated in my opinion lol I'm with adrian flux and have none and my insurance is 200 a year fully comp - no ltd mileage - but then again I'm a few years older - 😊

Adrian Flux do a special young person's policy (or did!) so have a look at them, but forget about having a modified Golf for now - it's becoming more and more difficult to insure whatever age you are.

i would go for a 1.1 mate, im 19 and my insurance is £1700 for a 1.3 with elephant. none of the classic car companies would give me a quote (you have to be 21 or over) but yea just go onto compare the market and confused. Good luck!

Hi mate,
Try Herts Insurance, I'm 19 and my insurance is around £1000 on a 1.8 GTI however I've got no-claims bonus and limited mileage….
Like Rubbadubdub said, classic car insurers only really quote if over 21. Best bet is to phone around and see what comes up. Put as many named drivers on the policy as possible as this can bring your premium down. I would also go for the 1.1 as my insurance at 17 (1.4 Honda) was over £2500!! Good luck mate

When you're ready for a quotation feel free to give us a try if you like. If you wanted to PM me your details I would be happy to get one of my quotes team to give you a call back.
