is my mk1 genuine?
I have been trying all day to insure my mk1 golf c with a 1500 engine, all the insurance companies say they don't recognise the model.
it was, according to the log book, 'was registered/used overseas. declared manufactured 1981. According to the insurers i have to tell them where it came from, or if it has been modified. it all looks original to me, so how will i find out?

You'd better post a picture for that instance for us to see it..That would be a better option for you to prove that it's really a genuine thing or not..

It would be pretty easy to tell. Since the engine mounts are in a different place, if someone had done a conversion they'd have had to cut out and reweld the engine mount in a different place. Look at the engine mount (on the right), does it look like its factory or DIY welded in place? And is there any evidence of its previous location?
