hi im a new member and im looking for some help i have recently bought a mk1 convertible gti.  its on a Q plate and im struggling to get insurance anyone got any ideas lol???

Theres not much detail about your situation!

I have just bought a golf citi, its a 1.8 gl and i am only 20 with 1 years no claims, don't know how but got insurance qoute for £720 but when i modify the qoute for a mk1 1.1cl it jumps to £900, i think its because mine is an import but its just pathetic, alot faster car but practically same shape is cheaper.
i find elephant, diamond, admeral, bell (all same company are cheap)
my qoute for £720 was from aviva so try them

Try putting girlfriends address as main address, my girlfriends address made premium rocket to over £1000 even though she lives a mile away so that might help, try your parents house etc

I found best option was to get insurance qoute before get the car but it is sooo frustrating how you have to determain your car on the insurance.

Other things to change on the qoutes could be,

where kept overnight
any mods
milliage a year
excess

do online qoutes and play about with it to find a good qoute

putting parents on the insurance even if they aint gonna use it helps i find, mine is £1200 without my mum and dad on there but £720 without

Have you tried the insurance discounters on the left make sure you mention that you are a member of the club to get your discount.

I used one of the side insurers and they refused to give me the discount

yes cos the quote was good enough not to want the reduction…it dropped from 360 to 180 in a oner

surely 180 is a great price anyway??? haha

yes it is but, it dropped so fast when i said I had a quote for 190...then no member discount, not moaning like, just wierd
