Guesses on insurance??
Hi i know insurance can go up and down depending on anything. I would be looking at a Mk1 Golf GTI hardtop, i am 19, can you use no claims on classic insurance? I will have the car garaged. Cheers in advance

Expect to pay anything from ?400 to ?800. Yes classis car policies will use no claims just like any other - Try Footman James and a few others for classic insurance - do a google search. A number of companies will not insure classis cars for under 25's though so check that out.
Best of luck

If you speak to Footman James, and try for a classic car scheme, they try not to consider NCB that you might have. They tend to base the insurance on how long you have owned the car and calculate teh insurnace on this. Its on the basis that most peeps who have a classic car tend to keep them for long periods, use it little and often, and are generally a safe bet for an accident free life .
I think at 19, you'll be pushing more for ?1000 for insurance, but then I'm an old fart now and am probably way out of touch with insurance costs ops:

Again i think it will stil be around the grand mark because of your age, most companies don't do classic policys for under 25's :?

Classic car policies tend to be based on the idea that the car is a 'second car' (ie, not your main vehicle). As such they don't generally take NCB into account (I believe this can only be used on one policy, not multiple policies). Many also restrict the mileage to something like 5,000 or less per year. I've found that some places are still a bit funny about insuring Mk1 Gti as a classic as well (but mines an '83 so under 25yrs old)
Places like Adrian Flux or Herts (HIC) might be able to sort you out. I've used them in the past.
Good luck with it.
One benefit of growing older - cheaper insurance
