Cheap insurance companies??

can anyone recommend any reasonble insurance companies? i have a mk1 clipper, need to renew my insurance, im 24 and currently with elephant and am paying 1200 under my mums name. My renewal quote was 1000, is there any one i should try?

If you're using the car as a second car, try getting a limited milage 'classic' policy with the likes of lancaster insurance or footman james. Think you might have to be over 25 for footman james, but lancaster will definitelty insure you under 25.

If it's your main car, then try other companies such as Adrian Flux, they are very competitive.

I found Direct Line to be good value if I was insuring the car as an every day car, they came in at just under ?500, and that was last year when I was 24.  

The secret with insurance is to shop around, as what works out cheap for one person, can be expensive for another and visa-versa. It's a bit of a postcode lottery really.

Also I'd get off your mums insurance and get your own policy if you can, as you'll be grateful for the no-claims bonus you'll accumulate. I expect with some shopping around you'll get a good price even on your own, as your 24 presumably with a few years driving experience.

I'm 22 and am with HIC brokered out to another company. Have gone with a limited mileage classis policy with an agreed valuation and I pay ?548 thats for me and my girlfriend fully comp. Also can drive other cars 3rd party which usually policies don't allow until your 25. If you're a member on here you also get a discount and it's also worth telling them you go to shows as I think they sponsor a couple.
forgot to say I made a bit of a cock up when I took the policy out and said I had 3 years no claims but apparently your no claims can only be used on 1 car and I'm already using mine on teh Mazda. HIC agreed to mirror the discount even though I officially have 0 no claims on this vehicle.
