A pretty good guide of the value, is how much you paid for it if you bought it recently.
What kind of car is it? Standard or modified? Hatchback or cabby? If its a standard(ish) hatchback, there is a price guide on here, FWIW. Otherwise, you're into posting a bunch of pics here, detailing the specification and asking for a bunch of opinions from the internet.

Its a genuine Mk 1 Campaign with 36k miles from new, I bought in 1984 when it was a couple of months old. Always garaged, mods a little spoiler over the rear window and speakers in the parcel shelf.

Anything from £2750 to £8000 depending on the condition then?

Thanks for the help. Ihope they will accept my findings? In terms of condition I not sure of the definition of 'concours' so I will say as near to.

There should be no "hope" about it - its agreed value insurance. You tell them the value, they accept it (so you both 'agree') then IF you make a claim, you'll get that. They've deemed that owners can self-value under £15k, so you don't really have any issues.

My insurance is up next month, so i've been checking around for prices. Currently i'm with Adrian Flux. They didn't ask for an owners club to value, so i put a value and sent in the relevent pictures. They agreed to the value. Just checked with Footman James and ther're cheaper but for agreed value they need an owners club/specialist to value. How do i go about this? Thanks……….

FJ never used to require a clubs valuation? Not unless you are valuing it at >£10K anyway!

Na!! Agreed value last year was £5,500. FJ asking for this specialist valuation. If not, then car only "market value" , which we know what that means! I might just stick to AF as i want an agreed value on it really………….

To obtain agreed value cover all you need to do is complete the vehicle condition form that we send out to you with your documents and then return it to us with the photographs requested. The only time we'd ask for an independent valuation from the club is if the value is greater than £15k or if we think your valuation is wildly out which it doesn't sound like either apply in this case.
