Fitting a genuine VW cup holder to cabriolet

Right, first you need a cup holder from a mk3 Golf (these may be a US only item, but are easily available on EBay).
Get your Dremel out, and remove the thin webbing from underneath the cup holder, then remove the clip at the back.
Next you have to remove the top section of the back edge, leaving approx 1" of depth, and taper an angle in to the sides.


Go and test fit it , and trim until it's a nice tight fit in the centre cubby.
 

Once happy with the fit, add double sided foam tape to the back, sides, and underneath of the cup holder.


Clean the cubby with acetone to remove dirt, and stick the cup holder in place.

You can still use the small pocket at the back to store your phone etc, and if your not carrying any drinks, it makes a nice storage area for your sunglasses 😎

Cheers dude. Also tried it in a tintop, it's no good as the centre console aperture is massive, so it swallows the cup holder.
