Wiring for soft top

Lost 12v feed to the roof switch int he cabin.

Good morning everyone.

Thank you for the help so far with the electrical issues.

I am now on with getting the roof working.

I know the pump works as I’ve tested that.
The switch at the front does not seem to be getting a 12v feed. The large red wires to the 4 relays in the boot have got 12v to them I’ve checked that.
The red wire from the switch goes to the additional fuse attached to the top of the fuse box and a white wire goes from this to the ignition column.
If I ad 12v direct to that red or white wire the pump works from the switch.

Does anyone have any wiring diagrams for this so I can see where the feed is supposed to be?

Thank you

Best Regards

Josh.

Do you have a Bentley, or Haynes as the answers are in the book.

Automatic or manual, and Auto year would be good to know.

Check your ignition switch green/yellow wire

Most of all answers are in the Bentley.
Don't forget the Brake switch unless it is up the top will not get power,  If automatic, then it has to be in Park as well.

I don’t have either.

It’s not my car so I’m not going to be buying them unfortunately as this is a restoration project I’m doing as a favour for a good friend.

I’ve said in other posts it’s a 89/90 GTI.

I’ve now got the roof working by adding a 12v feed that was missing.

The handbrake switch is clean and working I’ve stripped cleaned and rebuilt it.

By base knowledge of cars is pretty decent as I’ve restored show and award winning cars in the past. Not VWs but other brands.

Also I’m reluctant to post photos and much detail of the car as it’s not mine.

There are no 89/90 Cabriolets it is either one or the other use a vin decoder to determine the correct year.

90's are Digifant 1, or 2, Carbed or CIS in the UK.

Tell your friend to buy the Bentley if he wants to have it restored.

I understand on doing thing on the cost effective scheme (cheap) but having a book avail, will help you help him.

89/90 well I bought a 81 Diesel Rabbit LS in the US in 1980, but it was when the 81 model year rolled out.  But it was still vin'ed as 81.

www.Cabby-info.com is a good site to peruse for how-to's as well as the Archive section here.
