wondering if anyone has attempted or succeeded in refurbing their wiper arms?
Whist I could get the whole thing blasted and powder coated, there would be bits missed, and it would likely not move properly. I could drill the pivot rivet out, and get the parts done individually, but no idea how I'd go about replacing the pivot rivet. I've not been able to find any that are the right dimensions.
Has anyone ever managed to do this?
Cheers!

What I started with.

After removal of the arms:

See the corrosion on the arm holder, that is a badddddddd thing that got cleaned up with a wire brush for the threads, and some buffing with 220.
I will go back with NEVER-SIEZE.
The arms after some light sanding and cleaning with acetone to remove all the wax:

After 5 coats of Krylon Satin Black
![](https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y65/briano1234/windshield/DCP_6842.jpg)
Then I got this little guy back to black too, as it was white with sun fading and wax.

Powder coat may be too reflective, that is also why I chose the Satin finish…. as it is a dull shine and not in my eyes whilst driving.

Yeah, I know what you mean - having looked you can get a pair new for ~£50.Early-1800 said
I'm all in favor of keeping as much of a car original as possible but think I'd be happy to replace wiper arms, inc GTI driver side, for about tenth of cost and hassle of having them powder coated.
to be honest, I reckon my project would have gone loads quicker if I bought new instead of refurbing loads of bits - but then that's half the fun…..that's what I tell myself.

Satin Black is my go to colour. Most of the stuff in my engine bay is satin black, unless it is alloy or plastic! Even the battery I bought is black, with a touch of red - keep it coordinated!
Thanks folks!

I think spray painting is the way to go. Good to know that it can be done without having to remove the rivets.
