Mk 1 Caddy 1.6d

Hello, please can you offer advise, my son and I are (very) slowly trying to restore a beat up old Mk1 Caddy which he bought when he was 12 with some inheritance left to him by my parents. We know nothing of restoration or mechanics but see it as a father/son bonding thing I guess. The welding has been done for us so we are now trying to work our way through suspension.
What coilovers/ camber plates can you recommend please. Just looking at reliable mid range for a 17/18 year old to drive ( carefully I hope). VW Heritage suggest VMAXX ??
Thanks very much and btw we had an ace time at the campout this summer in Stratford and chatted to most of you caddy owners and were gob smacked at the standard of all the cars there.
See you next year and hopefully schedule the Caddy for an appearance in 2018…hopefully!

Cheers Adam and Sol

Can't help on coilovers as I avoid them like the plague but I think the caddy has leaf springs on the rear so you can't even fit coil overs on the rear. As for camber on the front that can be adjusted using the camber adjusting bolt so no extra parts needed for the front.
Again can't be any help with rear camber as it not my "cup of tea" so never looked into having rear tyres on a funny angle.
