Why don't you look at some normal shocks with lowering springs?

It could be that your springs were shot and you need to get new springs.
Even in the Old Days of my 81, I bought an over load kit that bolted to the rear axle and the body tie-down that prevented the
rear from sagging under load. Worked well, and i wish I would of kept them when I sold the car…..
What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Decent coilovers, when used at a modest height drop, can remain reasonably comfortable and provide good suspension travel for a range of load carrying etc. I think half the problem is also that coilovers tend to come in one rate, and the manufacturers will optimise this for a standard GTI hatchback. Put them on a small block, or a cabby, and that is no longer optimal.
