Lol, right guys I have recently bought so budget coil overs, as I wanted to rise the height of my car as it scrapped if u was carrying passengers well not even passengers, it scrapped carrying 2 bags of shopping in the boot, so I bought some budget coil overs to rise the height, I have fitted them but the gap looks the same.as before and I have raised the coil over, at the moment it giving me 1ft from centre of wheel to arch, and from top of wheel to arch its about 2" gap, sat in the back and pushed up and down and the car feels more stiffer, my question is are springs ( i think they lowering springs as it sat down a bit,) stiffer or coil overs, as the height looks the same , the boot is still full off mess so I'm hoping my 4 suspensions and trolley jack and tools will rise a tad i once taken out boot, only reason i ask is i don't want to go shopping and find out I'm scrapping me way home lol all help.appreciated in advance

I think most coilovers even on the highest setting will be lower than stock suspension.

Why don't you look at some normal shocks with lowering springs?

I have had 3 Adults in the rear of my Cabby with Stock springs and struts, no rubbing.

It could be that your springs were shot and you need to get new springs.
Even in the Old Days of my 81, I bought an over load kit that bolted to the rear axle and the body tie-down that prevented the
rear from sagging under load.  Worked well, and i wish I would of kept them when I sold the car…..

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

True I could go back to stock, but wanted coil overs as I have 3 sets of wheels, bbs, tarantulas and Quattro ones, each wheel has different size tyres so just wanted to have the options of adjusting the high for the chosen wheel, the old springs did look a bit shot and also the shock looked gone to, I drove it up the road and it seems more stiffer than the old suspension going to take it for a drive after a wash and now I remembered I need to tighten the locking nut in the coil overs lol so back on the job again

I went for the bc coilovers and running 195/50/15 tyres and no where near rubbing as I've set them hard for fast road.

Decent coilovers will be TUV approved and part if this is detailing in the specification the height they are approved to be used at. -20 to -80mm is typical. Of course, you can go lower if you wanted to in the UK.

Decent coilovers, when used at a modest height drop, can remain reasonably comfortable and provide good suspension travel for a range of load carrying etc. I think half the problem is also that coilovers tend to come in one rate, and the manufacturers will optimise this for a standard GTI hatchback. Put them on a small block, or a cabby, and that is no longer optimal.

And there's the temptation to wind them down too low.
