I need to check the existence of a fuel pump switch
I suddenly realised that the fuel system has an enormous pressure in it when it is running. What is the provision for a switch off either in the event of a crash or a sudden system leak?

The sudden interruption of the Electrical system or the engine stopping.
That is if you get in a front ender that breaks the Battery, or the engine dies in gear as you didn't clutch it when the crash occurred and the engine stalls or stops.
Turning the ignition off.
Its best not to crash.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

Mmm You're saying there is no automatic fuel pump shut off in the event of a crash. I expected there to be a decelerometer fitted, which I was going to check. It would be easy to link it in to the locking seat belt mechanism for example?.
If the engine has stopped and the ignition was still on, I suspect it will still be pumping fuel through the possibly accident damaged hose. I am going to have to research this more.

If the engine isn't running, and you have the correct fuel pump relay fitted it will cut off. The relay needs a pulse signal from the coil to remain energised.
