what engine could i use??? does anyone have a 2e block?

hi everyone i put up a post a few weeks back and just wanted to say thank you for all your help, i knew nothing about vw's and have learnt a lot, anyway i have found out that my mk1 golf is running digifant injection ill put some pics up to show the set up, my question is what engine could i buy that would fit in and run? it did have a 1.8 head and a 2.0 block been told its a 2e from a mk3, the number from the block i got was 048103021b?? but can't find a 2.0 block anywhere. can anyone help???

Cannot tell you where to source an engine , but look for breaking mk3 golf 8v gti,s,  similar audi,s (which I once used) and presumably seat,s.

are all the mk3 golf gti blocks the same as mine then?

yes all mk3 8v gti engines would fit, or any vw/ audi/ seat 2.0 8v  look for engine codes 2E, ADY, ABA, AGG, or 3A, basically any vag 2.0 8v engine with the inlet manifold at the back

ok thanks for that just need to check if the head is ok?if not would a mk2 1.8 engine fit?
