What coilovers?

Hi everyone, I'm hoping to get some help. I'm looking at getting some new coilovers for my 1983 mk1 golf tin top gti as my current ones are very cheap and really affect the ride quality. I have seen some BC coilovers on classic VW but in the option it asks about kg of which I have no clue. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

We have just completed the road/rally preparation of a Mk1 GTi that came with some BC BR series coilovers set very low. We have subsequently reset to std ride height and the resulting ride is probably the most compliant Golf i have driven. As i recall the BC factory advice for spring rate on the Golf is 5kg/2.7mm. If you are doing primarily track work then a stiffer spring rate may be advisable.
