Using the right Fuel relay
I have a 1987 GTI clipper that has had some fuel issues. Originally there were some fuel starvation issues, but the car ran okish with the occasional cough/splutter and then would pick back up. After these issues, there was some clicking coming from the fuse box area but the main fuel pump was wurring but it wouldn't fire. I changed the main Fuel pump (not in tank one) and it still wouldn't go. So took out the relay and put 12v to the side pins 31 and 15 but no clicking of the relay. So did some investigation of which relay to swap it out with as it was a KAE 3.300.210 relay in there. I looked at the log book and it stipulates that my clipper has the DX engine. When I searched which relay I needed, it stated that it was a 4 pin Relay, but the KAE one in there was a 5 pin. Reading the forums I can see people aren't that keen on the KAE relays. I'm not sure if someone put the wrong relay in it (hence the problems) or if it should have a 5 pin, but the relay just went bad. So if any of you more knowledgable people out there can steer me in the right direction I would be very grateful.
