VIN Location 1979 Golf LS

Hi all.  Mark 1 Golf LS 1979.  Does anyone know where the VIN plate/details should be located? Had a look today but could not find it.  Any pictures would also be very helpful.  

I think it should be stamped on the suspension turret in the engine bay

Thanks Ade this was really useful I have now identified the VIN number and are now the proud owner of a Mark 1 golf!! Now the fun begins to get her restored!! 😂 

Isn't it stamped in the rain tray?
On a 79 vert it was a stamped plate on the front valance right of the hood catch.
