Need advice on the current value of my girl
Hey…
So I'm actually here for a bit of guidance and help. Anyone who sees this is going to think I'm an absolute idiot but here goes!
So I have a 1993 mk1 karmann clipper cabrio. She's covered 140k and has been well loved and looked after by myself and the previous owner.
I brought her to make her my own but my time has been consumed by my son and work and I've finally brought myself to part with her.
Shes been kept in my garage for the two years I've owned her.
The MOT ran out in may 2015 and she's been SORN since. Last MOT only had one small advisory on it and I plan to get another put on her before sale.
All in all she's pretty minty mint. The previous owner put a lot of work into her and she's just been nursed by me since!
So my problem is I have no idea what she's worth and I wondered if there is anyone on here that could maybe point me in the right direction to someone who could value her, I've looked online but the prices are so vast it's hard to tell. I can provide any info that's needed with pictures etc.
I paid £2,880 for her just over two years ago.
So yeah if anyone can help my idiot self out I'd really appreciate it! Just tell me what you need to know and please be kind with my stupid self!
Many thanks in advance everyone

Really hard to put a value on the car as it's been sat for 2 years, cars really don't like just sitting in garages as condensation easily forms and things start to rust away.
Get it started (if you can as petrol can go off after a year) give it a good service, oil, filters (oil, petrol and air) brake fluid, coolant change and possible cambelt and tensioner then get it MOTed
Tyres might be shot if stood still for 2 years?
Then post up some pictures and any MOT issues.

Put it on Ebay with a full description and lots of clear pics and the market will decide exactly what it's worth.
Mid winter without an MOT, isn't going to maximise its value……..
If you can I'd get it MOT'd and put it up for sale end of April when the sun comes back.

Mid Winter prices are down.
Garaged Cars, as mentioned are lower.
To get the most accurate price, you need to look at the classifieds here, the vortex, autotrader, ebay. Take in consideration if yours is better or worse than those listed average the prices together, and you will determine it's true worth.
You will never get back what you tie up in it, unless it is a real collectible ie MGTD, Old Rolls, or a 59 Vette.
I suspect if I had to total up all the parts I have replaced in mine and tried to sell it for that I would be laughed at, ridiculed, and derided.
Don't get me wrong, ask what you want, but expect to be low-balled.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.
Where are my DIY Links?

The description you give sounds pretty much what I would write for the car I bought before Xmas. Mines 1992 and 142k miles. Rock solid body and paintwork. Nice interior. Newish roof. But because it was the middle of winter, the guy had had it on sale for £3000, but had dropped it to £2300 to try and shift it. I jumped at that, but nobody else did!
If you can hang on for spring, you will get more.

Value of my clipper
Thank you everyone. It's been started and moved in and out of the garage from time to time (I may have taken her round the block too)
She starts fine, will give her a basic service and get and mot or on her, I didn't even think about the seasonal values, I totally see what you mean with the price increasing when the sun comes out!
It is a really nice example and I just want to get a good price for her but also want to see her go to a good home you know?
Will have another look through websites for the prices, so many different things have been done to them I was finding it hard to determine what to price her at.
Thank you again to everyone who took their time to reply to me!
