How to find / fit a new spill rail
Hi,
I have a MK1 diesel engine which I need some help with. It's been fitted into my narrowboat (I'm hoping that's not grounds to kick me off the forum right away!).
It's a fab engine and pushes the boat along absolutely lovely, but it has a homemade spill rail put on when it was marinized. Few problems linked together in this area;
1. The compression fitting arrangement used to make the spill rail is beginning to fail due to the vibrations. I would like to get an after market spare, but cannot seem to find one. If anyone can send a link to one that would be great and really appreciated.
2. I have a weeping injector which is getting worse. Engine still runs well but I'm loosing an increasing amount of diesel and would like to sort it out.
3. It looks as though the spill rail is soldered directly onto the injector. Is this normal? It seems that to service any injector then the whole arrangement would need to be broken off and redone, which doesn't seem ideal. If anyone has a better system they know of I would love to hear it.
They're all linked, so I would like to get it sorted at the same time.
Would really appreciate any advice and practical fixes!
Cheers.

bizarre when you consider the original factory method was simply push on fuel hose/pipe
the push on fuel pipe does age and split and leak, esp modern cheap stuff…, perhaps they were trying to stop that??

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply, and for the link. It's so helpful to see how it's supposed to look. This seems like a much more sensible arrangement, and I'll just stay aware that the fuel hose is another part to keep an eye on and replace in a few years.
Sounds like we just need to bite the bullet and crack off the soldered arrangement to access and replace the injectors, then rebuild using the flexible fuel hose.
Ok, follow up question;
Does this look like the correct type of injector? A lot of them don't look to have the attachment points for the leak off fuel hose, but this does.
