Door/window sills Mk 1 GTI Cab 1986 and new suspension.

Hi there, new member here and I have bought a 1986 GTI cab which Im looking to run through the summer and then strip and refurbish over the winter. I couple of issues I have which I'd like to ask your help with. first, see pictures below of the 'window seals/caps' (the black and silver strip between the top of the door and the window) what are these called and can you buy replacements ? if so where. The other issue is I think the shocks and springs have had it. what brand/shocks would anyone recommend ? I think the existing much be original but the front seems high to me and it wallow's around a lot so Im thinking a decent set of aftermarket ones where I can perhaps adjust the front if its too high.

Any assistance would be much appreciated. Im certain this won't be the last you hear from me as the year goes by !

The window seals are available new still.

Try Heritage or Classic vw for spares. Both have a discount code if you become a member of the club.

Shocks and springs are a difficult one tbh. Depends on what you want from the car.

Bilstein shocks are good. A common upgrade is to add these and some eibach 30mm lowering springs to tighten everything up a bit.

They call them scrapers as in Window Scrapers.
They aren't cheap I think mine ran me about 120 USD.

I got mine from mk1autohaus off of ebay.
