Warm starting

Post

Morning all,

very quick post as I'm at work and rushing round like a blue hooped fly.

The new golf (MK1 Lhasa Green tin top - pics and details to follow) starts on the button every time but it's a nightmare to get going when it's warm.  If you sit for half hour it's normally fine.

Had a similar problem with the old cars (Mk2 Roccos) and think it was the WUR,coil/starter but will take any help at this point.

Cheers in advance.

can be caused by system loosing pressure too quickly after engien is switched off, either due to non-return valve in pump failing or bad fuel accumulator. in the end of the accumulator is a wee screw, if you can get it undone and fuel comes out then its duff

Cheers Rub,
It's all pointing toward that but as getting as much info as I could before I started playing with things.

Mark:  Yep.  Been whizzing round in the Audi for the last two years, great car but no soul.  Needed to scratch the itch

Think we all have been there a bit…. mine since 81…
I really need to find another Diesel, and get it back to OEM……  The Cabbies suffice, but they aren't the one I broke my teeth on…

I love the smell of Diesel in the Morning.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

is this is a carb model and if so, what carb do you have?
I have a 1.8 auto cabby with a weber something - or -other carb.

Mine used to have a problem flooding - solved by fitting a replacement vapour separator bowl (though the return to tank fuel line is still blanked off)

Try starting with the go pedal pressed to the floor (or as your cranking, press the go pedal down until she hopefully catches)

Think the wur is shatbagged.  Unplugged it and it seems fine, a bit hunty on start up but it works.

Cheers for the help
