Any reccomendations?
Hi,
I had my Mk1 GL MOT for the first time in 3 years on saturday and it failed due to the two front tyres being excessively worn on the inside, so i need to get some new tyres
The ones currently on all wheels are bridgestone potenza RE040 165/50 R15, and looking now they either dont sell them anymore or are being charged at silly amounts.
So can anyone reccomend any tyres?.
(Wheels are standard G60 steels)
Cheers in advance.

I would get tyres but then also get it tracked… as your alignment is off (y'all say tracking over there.).
What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.
Where are my DIY Links?

165 tyres are to thin for a 6 inch wide wheel, 195/45 R15 or 195/50 R15 seems to be the size for G60 wheels.

Yes that's the plan haha, it had the same issue when I first got it and then I changed the wheels! Definitely need to

Cheers!!
I did wonder if this was the case, they don't seem to be stretched at all to me but might be an idea to swap all 4 out then!

That's a serious tyre for a mk1 golf unless you are running a serious engine. That was the stock tyre on the Lotus Elise, grippy! . I've gone with Toyo proxies CF2 on my std GTi. They seemed a fair price and have decent reviews for an all round tyre. Just my personal opinion but I'd steer clear of anything suggesting 'economy' I find they have minimal grip!

Haha, I had no idea honestly! I brought the wheels with the tyres on and just left them on as shown.paceman said
