Is this right?
On refitting the distributor and after lining up the camshaft and gearbox markings it doesn't appear that I can get it back in the same place as it was. If I line up the body of the distributor to where it was previously I.e. the vacuum at the front and electrical connector at 3 o clock the rotor arm will not line up with the mark on the distributor body.
I can get these to line up but have to turn the body so the vacuum is at 3 o clock and the electrical connector almost touching the engine block. Is this o.k.?
Any advice is appreciated.

The line on the dissy is usually around 12 oclock.
Theres a dot which lines up the crank pully.
Not got a good picture but my dissy sits like this.
Fit cambelt and set timing then you can adjust where the dissy sits by adjusting the wedge from the oil pump, if you remove the dissy you will see a metal wedge which fits into the base of the dissy shaft you can turn the wedge to the right angle and refit the dissy to get it to sit in the right place so you can get full adjustment.

The 0 is on the crank finger.
The dizzy is rotated so that the middle of the rotor is in the middle of the hash that is stamped on the side frame of the Dizzy usually in the 12:30-1:00 position.
I have learned that the Pulleys dots don't really matter.
As the intermediate shaft can be off on the Pulley marks that you need to just have the Dizz in the middle of the Hash.
I know the way that you have to Photo everything leads to a Parallax error.

Thanks for the rapid response guys. Just got a bit of plumbing to do and hopefully get her going again.
You know the Spark wires and cap are missing?
