Not opening heater control valve
When I move the temperature control in the dashboard it doesn't move the heater control valve in engine bay. I can move the valve manually from engine bay- so pretty sure the valve is ok. I'm thinking the cable has maybe became detached in the dash somewhere- can this be checked without taking the dashboard out? And could the cable therefore be replaced without removing the dashboard?
TIA.

There is also the main pivot that has a clip that can break, and cause the arms to move but not pull the Cable.
There is a time lag on posts, so wait 3 minutes before re-sending your post via Tap-a-talku as you have double and triple posts in the forum as of late thanks.

Then you can see the arm movement and if it is pulling the wire in the center of the sheath.
Be it also known that a 80 Porsche 944 heater control valve non-Vacuum one is more like the original heater valve on the late 70's and 80's Rabbits/Golfs that were a gate valve and less resistive to change, then the remade newer style that is way stiffer to move than the Gated Valve, and one I personally hate as I have had them blow apart leak when new.

Is it a new cable?
If I take the full surround off I should be able to replace that cable?
Any idea what that little red light is ?
thanks.

If the control doesn't slide easily then remove the assembly, and see if it is broken, then clean it and lube it with white lithium grease.
