Rust in engine bay...
I recently removed the karman kit of my mk1 golf cabriolet, I noticed some spots that all most look like they have rusted and been patched a while ago, shall I be worried? Engine is coming out next year and bay will be repainted, I'm just wondering if it needs some work is it easy or a big job, thanks

Its a manual, right? (ie not auto)
I'd not worry too much about all except the last pic. That's where the clutch cable comes through the bulkhead, if that isn't solid it can pull the cable retaining thing through the bulkhead and leave you stranded.
But definitely, when the engine's out, attend to the rust in the engine bay. It looks a little worse than usual but shouldn't be a massive issue in itself.

Thank you,its put my mind at ease a little, I've recently brought it and was starting to panic I'd brought a nightmare,
Luckily I'm not planning on driving it untill the new engine is in so at least it can all be made safe before hand,
Thanks again

seen a lot worse than that, so be happy.
Clean down and rub with ermery then ad rust treatment, and repaint. If engine coming out then yes why not repair and refresh the whole lot. same remove paint and then treat and repair sections. then paint. theres clutsh repair patches available, and these work. i have 3 of them on 3 cars.. they do the job. If i took engine out i may consider making the plate more permanent.
