Roof repair / replace
I took the opportunity to free up and repair the main hinge on the right as it had sneezed and subsequently snapped at some time in its life.
I also replaced the metal frame and plastic surround that the rear screen sits in.
This is what the roof staples too before the glass goes in
Hope this is of some help

Chortle is the man I would see ifn't I was in the UK.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.
Where are my DIY Links?

Are you looking to get one fitted or do it yourself, if DIY there is a guide on here to replacing the roof but you need to look at what else needs replacing/fixing as it's one of those jobs that once you take the roof skin off and gone that far you may as well replace/fix other stuff..
Where are you based and what type of roof do you have or want… mohair or vinyl?

Also which is better Vinyl or Mohair?
All depends on what you plan for the car… Mohair can last longer than vinyl but all depends on how and what you clean/care for the roof with.
If you are using the car as a daily or left outside a lot then I think vinyl is better as easy the clean and protect but can shrink or crack over time.
Mohair is a material which needs water proofing and cleaning regular to stop the mould and moss which can grow in time, cat hair, bird droppings are a pain and it cost more to replace compared to vinyl.
I guess the price you have seen is for just a mohair outer skin, you will need to factor in the condition of the rear frame as they are expensive to replace, condition of the pad between the headliner and outer skin and the condition of the headliner. A new roof should last about 10 years for vinyl and a bit longer for mohair if well looked after so ask your self if you can live with the headliner etc for that amount of time or replace for new while you have the roof replaced.
All depends on your budget etc…
