Hi, I have purchased the rubber upgrade kit to replace the cork rocker cover gasket. Can I get away with using the existing studs? I did have a quick go at removing them with the two stud method but no joy and don't fancy snapping any thing!!

When removing the stud, two things I have done over the years.
First heat it with a torch for a bit to loosen the goo on the stud from the head.
Protect the Head face, I use a washer to fit between the head and the tool.
There are 3 ways to take them out, the double nut method.
There is the lock a small pair of Vice-Grips low on the stud and tap with a small hammer to get it to budge.
The last is an official Stud remover tool for your ratchet wrench.
When you have started the conversion, you have to take all the studs, and after the conversion you can never re-use the cork style of gasket again unless you swap out all the non-shouldered ones for shouldered ones.
When tightening the nuts use a Torque Wrench to set the nuts to 87 in/lbs, tighten in a zig-zag pattern starting in the center and work to the ends,
Sometimes getting the new gasket to Seat over the studs, I use a Deep Well socket to Tape it on.

If they are really stuck and you don't want to shear the studs off just go out and buy a cork gasket, there is nothing wrong with the cork gasket as long as you don't over tighten the nuts and always fit a new gasket if you remove the rocker cover.
I've not had a problem with a cork gasket and find them just as good as a rubber gasket, I've got cork on 1 car and rubber on the other and both have leaked a little oil at some point in there life and I've cured the oil leak on both by just a little nip up of the nuts.

as above really, just take some time to check if your rocker cover is straight once removed, if its been abused in the past it can be warped or if the nuts were fitted without the spreader bars they can deform around the stud holes
