Ring Lights as Indicators

Post

Hi everyone might sound a bit silly but I’m looking to use 2 ring reverse lights as indicators on the front of my car as I’m going for the no bumper look, is it possible to cut the wire from existing indicators to wire the ring lights up or do I have to do it another way??
Many thanks

Avoid cutting the  wire if possible.

If you follow the indicator wires back into the engine bay you'll find that there is a connector block.

If you pull the two connectors apart you can then run spades from the connector block to your new indicators without chopping original wires.

Have you thought about LED indicators from a motorbike? They've what I've used.

I was thinking of using the old indicator wire leaving the connector on which is connected to the existing connector and wiring it up from the end where it connects to the bulb if you get what I mean? I only bought these ones because I want them to fill the holes where the bumper would usually go

What age is your car ? Because I’m in the process of doing something similar for my cabby and have found oem connectors to plug into the existing loom so no need to cut up any thing, let me know if you want any part numbers

It’s 1992 I have spare connectors I purchased them from VW but I don’t know which cable I need that’s why I was think cut the old indicators at the bulb to keep the original connectors then fit 2 female spade connectors into the ring light

I’m thinking of cutting where I’ve marked and putting spade connectors onto it which will the. Connect to my ring light if you get what I mean? Then I’ve still got the original connector at one end

You can slip a small screwdriver inside your original connectors to get the plastic off and they’re just spade terminals inside so you can just make up a new length. But your way will work just as well as long as the length is there. Either way I’m sure will be fine. Just encase you’re going to use LED bulbs as I did you have to put a resistor in line or they flash like mad lol
